Why we exist
Mining is where much of what the world depends on begins, and the industry is asked to deliver more of it with less waste, less risk and more scrutiny than ever. We work for the companies carrying that task.
Our mission is better mining: better data, better decisions and less risk, with methods that make sense for everyone. For the company, in cost, in time and in how the work already runs. For the people and places around a mine. And for the world that uses what comes out of it.
The mission does not depend on any one method or system. What follows on this page is how we serve it today.

How we go about it
Expertise and the best technology available, put to the question every mining decision rests on: what is the rock made of.
From the first drill hole to closure, decisions are made on what the deposit contains, and how well they turn out follows from how well that is known. Our part is to give that knowledge more to rest on: every phase in every sample, at a resolution laboratory XRD cannot reach and at the scale of the whole programme, in time to be used and at a cost that makes sense for it.
We choose the method for the question and put our own expertise between the method and the customer: mineralogy and geology to decide what the data alone cannot, and systems that make every result reproducible and its evidence available to whoever reviews it. We do not own a synchrotron. The measurements are made with our beamline partners, and the preparation, the analysis and the result are ours.

SR-XRD
Quantitative mineralogy by synchrotron X-ray diffraction. Ground samples in, every phase in every sample identified and quantified. Thousands of samples measured in a day with our beamline partners, at a resolution laboratory XRD cannot reach.

Mintti
Automated phase identification, because synchrotron data is precise enough to tell phases apart. Mineralogy and geology applied where the data alone cannot decide. Every decision logged as evidence. Quantification by Rietveld refinement, thousands of samples in hours, and an expert review of every result before it goes out.
How Mintti works03In development
Flintti
A platform for circularity in mining. Flintti brings together what is known about a site, from public data and from our own analyses, so that tailings, waste and closed operations can be assessed as the resources they are. We are building it with the industry, for the industry.

Linda Kortelainen
Co-founder, geologist
The mineralogist behind every result we deliver. Over a decade in mineralogical analysis and thousands of SR-XRD analyses, before Mineralytics and since. Linda reviews every result and goes through it with the customer.
Mika Kortelainen
Co-founder, CEO
Built Mintti, the analysis system, and runs the company. Before Mineralytics, Mika led enterprise IT for sales and marketing and built data and AI systems. He saw what SR-XRD could do for the data the industry already works with, and built the system to make it routine.
05 How we work
The way a campaign runs
| 01 | Beamline partners | Measurements are made at synchrotron light sources with our beamline partners, at two facilities. We book the beamtime and carry the responsibility for the campaign. |
| 02 | Sample preparation | By hand, in Espoo. A few milligrams of each sample go into the holder. The rest is returned on request. |
| 03 | Data | Data and results are handled on our own servers. Our beamline partners are never told whose samples they measure. |
| 04 | Review | Every result is reviewed by an expert mineralogist and then gone through with the customer, so that it answers the question that was asked. |
| 05 | Research partners | We work with research institutes and universities on mineral characterisation and circularity, and join consortium projects as an R&D partner. |
